12/19/2023 0 Comments Vox ac10 vs ac10c1 harmonica![]() ![]() Blackstar: modern features, reverb, can do an impersonation of a variety lots of higher gain amps. The HT5 is basically one of Blackstar’s valve overdrive pedals with an output section on it). The HT20 clean channel is also a lot better than the HT5’s, which is pretty terrible. I sold the Blackstar HT5 and bought an HT20, which again - was a really handy amp to have around (direct out, ISP, Reverb, WAY more gain than I’d ever need). ![]() I ended up upgrading to an AC30 (which was too big, so I bought an AC15). It was a really good, multi purpose practice amp in a way that the Vox (cool vintagey clean amp) wasn’t.īut the Vox was really cool and vibey. I tended to use it at 2 O’clock with the bass off for a more vintage UK sound). No, you can't crank it, but even with its 10' speaker, it's well-designed, sounds great at lower volumes, and has all the bass response that the AC4C1-12 is lacking. ![]() Of those three amps, I'd go with the AC10C1. The Blackstar has reverb, a direct out for recording, can be used with headphones without needing to balance the output and has WAY more gain than the Vox (as well as the ISP function, which gives you a ‘US’ sound when fully left and a ‘UK’ when fully right. The AC15C1 sounds great, but as with the AC4C1-12, you'll never be able to crank it in an apartment. (That could have been the matching speaker/cab, because it sounded a lot better through a Marshall 2x12” I put it through). I played with a drummer a few times with it, it was okay and that volume - but used to flub out on my neck pickup a bit. It really only did one thing (slightly sagging clean sound at three volumes) convincingly. I had a Vox AC4TV which had limited EQ options but a half and quarter power switch (which I think might be what you’re referring to as an attenuator - but same difference). I’ve owned both of those amps in head format and they’re very different animals. ![]()
